We are pleased to present the work of
Hu Hung-Shu for this month's Art Walk Thursday, May 21st from 5-8 pm. Join us for wine, appetizers and the chance to see this series of black and white oil paintings which have been exhibited in the United States, Paris, Seoul and Taiwan.
A native of Shanghai, Hu studied architecture at Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan and design at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He was head of the design area of the UI School of Art and Art History until his retirement in early 2003.
In his own words, "An Art Historian once stated that Chinese paintings can not be accomplished with Western media and techniques, one must use Chinese brush, Chinese Paper and Chinese Ink to express the Chinese perceptions."
"I challenge that!"
Hu Hung-Shu
